Cookie Policy

Everything United Korean Founders stores on your device when you use the KOOM Week site at koom.nyc, what each item does, how long it stays, and how to change your mind at any time.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. We also use localStorage and sessionStorage, two storage areas in your browser that work the same way for our purposes. Where this page says “cookies”, it means all three.

2. Our approach

This Cookie Policy covers the public KOOM Week website at koom.nyc.

  • Nothing optional is stored on your device until you affirmatively choose it. The consent panel appears before any analytics cookie is set.
  • “Reject all” is the same size, the same colour, and the same number of clicks as “Accept all”. Closing or ignoring the panel is not treated as consent — we simply do not store anything optional.
  • There are no advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social media trackers on this site. Google Analytics 4 is the only third-party measurement tool we use, and it is not loaded at all until you accept analytics.
  • Analytics is recorded in two places: our own database, and Google Analytics 4 under Google Consent Mode with every advertising signal left denied. Both count visits and show which events draw interest; neither is used to identify you.
  • We count how often the consent panel is shown and which choice is made, declines included, so we can tell whether the panel is working and can demonstrate that consent was properly obtained. Those counts hold nothing but the choice and the time it was made: no identifier, no IP address, no browser details, and no link to the analytics data.
  • Your choice is remembered for 6 months. After that we ask again.
  • We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals sent by your browser.

3. What we store on your device

This is the complete list of first-party items. It is generated from the same source the consent panel uses, so the two can never disagree.

Strictly necessaryAlways active

Required for the website to function. They remember your consent choice and your language, and stop this panel from reappearing on every page of one visit. These cannot be switched off.

NameTypeServiceDescriptionExpiration
k_ccCookieThis websiteStores your cookie consent choice so we do not ask again on every page.6 months
k_lngCookieThis websiteRemembers whether you prefer English or Korean, so your next visit opens in that language.1 year
k_cpfSession storageThis websiteMarks that this panel has already been shown during the current browsing session, so one visit counts once instead of once per page. When you close the tab
k_gpdSession storageThis websiteRemembers that you dismissed the Global Privacy Control confirmation notice, so it does not reappear on every page. When you close the tab
k_cbdSession storageThis websiteRemembers that you closed the cookie banner with the X button during this browsing session, so it does not reappear on every page until you open a new tab. When you close the tab
k_fdLocal storageThis websiteKeeps an unfinished Get Involved application draft in this browser so you can resume later. Cleared when you submit or choose to start fresh.30 days, or when cleared

AnalyticsOpt-in

Let us count visits and see which pages and events draw interest, so we can plan the programme. The same measurements go to our own database and to Google Analytics 4. Google Analytics is only loaded after you accept, and there is no advertising pixel or retargeting tag on this site.

NameTypeServiceDescriptionExpiration
k_vidCookieThis websiteA random visitor identifier used to tell first-time visits from return visits. Contains no personal details.2 years
k_sidCookieThis websiteA random session identifier that groups the pages viewed in one sitting.30 minutes of inactivity
_gaCookieGoogle AnalyticsA random identifier Google Analytics uses to tell first-time visits from return visits. Set only after you accept analytics.2 years
_ga_<measurement-id>CookieGoogle AnalyticsHolds the Google Analytics session state for this site. Set only after you accept analytics.2 years

4. Third-party services and embedded content

Some pages ask your browser to talk to a service provider so a feature can work. Those providers may receive your IP address or set their own browser storage. They are not listed in the first-party table above because we do not write those keys ourselves.

ProviderWhere it appearsWhat they receive or storeRoleTheir privacy notice
Mapbox Inc.Event Calendar map onlyIP address and the map area you view, sent when the page loads; Mapbox may cache map tiles in your browser so the map loads faster next timeService provider for the interactive mapmapbox.com/legal/privacy
Vercel Inc.Every page (hosting)Request metadata including IP, handled to deliver the page and (when analytics is on) to derive approximate location. Does not normally set cookies on your device for this siteHosting and content deliveryvercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
Supabase Inc.Form and analytics storage (server-side)Form submissions and analytics records when you consent. Does not set cookies on your device when you browse the public siteDatabase and file storagesupabase.com/privacy
Google LLC (Google Analytics 4)Every page, but only after you accept analyticsPage views and a small set of interaction events, your IP address, device and browser details, and the _ga cookies listed in the table aboveAnalytics measurementpolicies.google.com/privacy

Google Analytics is the one entry here that the analytics toggle controls end to end: decline, and its script is never requested; withdraw later, and measurement stops and its cookies are deleted with the rest. Mapbox loads only when you open the Event Calendar map. It is not an analytics product and is not controlled by that toggle; turning analytics off does not stop the map from requesting tiles if you use that page. Fonts are self-hosted from our own servers, so no request is made to Google Fonts or any other font service when you load a page.

5. Managing your choices

  • Select “Your privacy choices” in the site footer to reopen the panel at any time. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
  • Turning analytics off takes effect immediately and deletes the analytics identifiers already in your browser, including the HTTP-only ones that page scripts cannot reach on their own.
  • If your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an instruction to switch analytics off. You will see an on-screen confirmation that the request was honoured, and the analytics toggle stays locked off for as long as the signal is on.
  • You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary items will reset your language preference and make the consent panel reappear on every visit, because the record of your choice is itself a cookie.
  • For the broader notice at collection — categories, purposes, sale and sharing, and retention — see the Privacy Policy section “Notice at collection”.

6. Changes to this policy

Whenever we add or change something that stores data on your device, we increment the consent version. Your previous answer stops applying and the panel asks you again, so you are never bound by a choice you made about something else.
